"After a nervous wait around, the race got started with a few fast paced laps which meant that lots of girls were dropped. Having just managed to hang on, the race luckily slowed and came back together and we were able to have a bit of a breather. The rest of the race carried on at a steady pace, made more challenging in the wind for the girls at the front with the odd sprint to get the heart really going! As we came into the last few laps it got a bit interesting, as we got overtaken by the Cat 4 race and the group got a bit disjointed. Eventually Alice came in at 9th and me at 10th, which was not too shabby for the first race ever. We have definitely learnt a lot from today, not least that we need to be a bit more aggressive towards the finish! Hopefully next time, with fewer nerves and a bit more confidence at the end, we can improve on this."
